This last fortnight our school value has been Love, we made cards to show those we care about how much they mean to us. It was lovely to see the children giving these to family, friend and each other 🙂
In Science this week we enjoyed working together to investigate whether objects were attracted to a magnet or not. They were encouraged to make a prediction before they tested the different objects.
We were treated to Hot Chocolate in the cafe on Wednesday afternoon for our fantastic class attendance last week as well as our recent super behaviour and team work !
Mrs Burrows talked to Year 1 all about her roots and growing up in Ghana, we learnt some of the Ghanaian language ‘Ga’, and learnt about houses, clothes and schools. We all learnt lots and loved asking Mrs Burrows different questions about her childhood.
We hooked with with the book Handa’s Suprise last week for Black History week. We ordered the story, completed African art, tried new fruits and retold the story!
As part of our belonging value over the last fortnight we discussed how we are all unique and bring special qualities to the class. We talked about how we not only belong to the class but also school, local community, city, country and wider world. The children had great ideas about how it feels to belong and how it feels if you don’t belong to something like ‘Nothing’ from the story we looked at in PSHE.
Welcome to our class blog. It is now up and running and it will be updated each week. Please keep looking for updates and try to write a comment.
